Founded in 1994, we chose the name Gigs to represent our interest in music as well as our software consulting business. Then located in the San Diego, CA area, we backed local bands, wrote software to track bookings of shows, and worked with Java servlets for streaming music on the web (before the days of MP3 and iTunes). The music business continues to be a sideline effort for us, both in live performance and music related software; most of our gigs now are for software development.
The majority of our early work was at the OS level for UNIX based systems, consulting at companies such as Hewlett-Packard, SAIC, and Sun Microsystems. Our corporate founder’s background in naval aviation provides a strong basis for security and defense communication systems.
More recently we have migrated to applications code, especially on projects targeted for Apple platforms. Last year we completed in-house products for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices, now available on the App Store. We take pride in delivering robust, efficient, and user-friendly application products.
Our current efforts include product maintenance and development of new applications for Apple’s iPhone.
